Finish-what-you-start

Finish what you start, while it might sound simple enough to do, many internet marketers get caught up in the hype of making money and lose track of what needs to be done.

If you’re like so many other people, myself included, there’s probably a number of projects that you’ve started but never finished. This is especially true when it comes to internet marketing. I think it’s safe to say that many of us have projects that are just sitting idle and collecting dust on our computer files.

Many of us can also relate to those moments of being motivated to create products. The chance to take those amazing ideas and put them into some form of video courses, short reports, eBooks, articles, graphics, templates, themes, plugins, or anything else that comes to mind. The whole process might seem exciting at first, but half-way through the project it’s set aside for some other great idea or opportunity. Does this sound familiar?

Get motivated

First of all, realize that you’re not alone on this. In fact, there are many occasions when I’ll spend time working on one project and out of nowhere end up working on another. Fortunately, my dad has been a great motivator and a big factor in keeping me focused, which helps to keep my mind from drifting and allows me to stay on top of the projects I’m working on.

What’s stopping you from finishing what you start?

There could be a number of reasons why you choose to start a project and ultimately decide not to finish it. Some of these include time management, procrastination, and even fear. As for myself, time management has not been as big a factor as procrastination and fear. As far as procrastination goes, I believe it lingers within all of us. No matter how big or small the task might be, there’s always circumstances where we put things off and try to finish them later. I can’t recall the number of times I put things off and would say over and over again how I’ll get back to finishing them.

Get things done

In order to be successful with internet marketing, you’ll definitely need to finish the projects you start. That’s a prime example of successful internet marketers. They didn’t get where they are simply by talking, they actually reached their goals by getting things done. However, if the work was not completed by them personally, they may have hired [outsourced] others to do it for them. Realistically, it doesn’t matter how the projects or work actually gets done, as long as it’s finished.

Ask yourself, how many projects have you started only to have them remain uncompleted? If you continue on this course, these unfinished projects could easily reduce a lot of your motivation and self-confidence. It could even become a permanent pattern in the way you conduct business online, which ultimately reduces your ability to generate revenue.

Let’s face it, there’s always going to be challenges that we must deal with and some days are going to be harder than others. Just keep this in mind, one of the keys to finishing what you start is to keep yourself moving forward.
