Having a domain name is essential for most people who want to open an online business, promote products and services, or simply blog about personal experiences. It doesn’t matter if your products are sold on marketplaces such as Etsy and eBay. However, having your own website will allow you to sell your products without any fees.
It also doesn’t matter if you’re into affiliate marketing or simply want to become a blogger. Choosing the right domain name is the first step in creating a successful experience for yourself.
Domains are very affordable nowadays and there is a large selection of top-level domains (TLDs) to choose from. While .com domains remain preferred by marketers, search engine rankings can be influenced by other TLDs.
However, the.com domains still rank highly in search engines, but if you incorporate some good SEO skills, other TLDs are just as likely to rank.
You should be aware that domain registrars have different pricing. You could pay more if you purchased your domain through a hosting company.
It would be to your advantage to have your domain registrar separate from your web hosting provider. If you want to change to another hosting provider, this will protect your domain from being held hostage by the hosting company.
It will also make managing domains easier and more efficient by purchasing them all from one location.
This Namecheap Review outlines some of the key features provided and why I consider it one of my favorite domain registrars. Namecheap is a major player in the domain registration market with over 11 million registered users, and 10,000,000 domains registered.
Let’s now look at my Namecheap Review that covers the pros and cons and decide if you should register a domain(s) with them.
The Pros
- Very affordable
Namecheap’s pricing is extremely affordable, just like its name. You will pay less than $10 to register a top-level domain with Namecheap.
If you are a beginner marketer and have a limited budget, it is possible to spend a small amount and purchase your own domain name.
- Trustworthy & Reputable
Namecheap was established in 2000… 20 years later it is still going strong. This proves that Namecheap is trustworthy and reliable. It has stood the test. It isn’t a domain registrar which will disappear tomorrow.
- Easy-to-use
It is simple to use, and you can manage all your domains from one dashboard. It is easy to use even for beginners.
- There are many TLDs to choose from
There are many top-level domain options available (e.g. com, .io, .xyz, .LLC, .eu, etc. )… You can obtain them all in one central location. It’s extremely convenient.
- Free privacy protection & domain security
Your domain will be secure, and you will also get WHOIS protection for the rest of your life. Your registration information will be secure and hidden from the public.
Namecheap is completely free, unlike some domain registrars that charge extra for privacy. Namecheap is a winner because of this alone.
- Domain transfer
You can contact the support team if you have domains registered with another registrar. They will help you move them to Namecheap. It may cost you a fee, but it is convenient and simple for you.
- Full DNS Access
You will be able to point domains to the nameservers of your hosting on your own. You will have DNS access, which allows you to manage your domain with a lot more flexibility.
- Amazing support
Namecheap provides 24/7 live chat support. You can immediately get help if you have any problems with your domain(s). They are truly helpful.
- Tutorials available
Don’t worry if you are unsure how to navigate Namecheap’s interfaces or use the options. You can find tutorial videos that can guide you through many of the processes.
- Extras
Namecheap offers hosting as well as domain registrations. They have also managed WordPress hosting.
As I said, hosting should be obtained from a separate company from your domain registrar. Namecheap hosting is fine. But it’s not wise to have all your eggs in the same basket.
Namecheap also offers this service for a very affordable price if you don’t want to register a domain. This service may be useful for freelancers or people selling on other marketplaces.
Of course, to be fully transparent with this Namecheap Review, I do operate a hosting account with Namecheap. Although, I only utilize several niche site domains from my account.
The Cons
With this Namecheap Review I’m going to be blunt. Namecheap is not perfect. Although there are few cons to this service they should be mentioned.
Namecheap’s pricing may be affordable, but the renewal prices for certain domains can be quite high.
If you wanted to buy the domain Bestfeline.toys, it would cost $11.98 the first year. Yes, at the time of this review, the domain name was available. However, the price goes up to $43.98 if you want to renew the TLD the following year.
This is a big difference.
This is something you should be aware of when buying a domain.
Keep in mind, Namecheap does not offer phone support. However, their live chat support service is 24/7 and extremely efficient.
Is Namecheap worth using?
Bottom-line, yes!
They are a well-respected company in the scene, with more than 11 million happy users.
Excellent service, great pricing, and easy to use. You could not ask for more.
Namecheap is a great service that will help most online marketers to reach the success they deserve.
